Description
The Anaiza Nest Japanese-style reactive glaze ceramic cups are four tall, handle-free cups, each glazed differently, so everyone at the table has their own. Sage green, rust with pale drips, and rust fading into blue and into white: the glaze moves in the kiln, so no two cups are alike. Each holds about 220 ml of tea or coffee. They arrive in a navy gift box with a fitted insert, ready for a new home or a family. Packed by hand in Dhaka, with cash on delivery.
Four cups, four glazes, and no two alike.
Why is the Japanese-style cup set a good gift?
These are tall, handle-free cups in the Japanese style, the kind you wrap both hands around on a cool morning. Each of the four carries a different reactive glaze: a speckled sage green, a warm rust with pale drips, and two that fade from rust into blue and into white. Because the glaze moves and changes colour in the kiln, every cup is one of a kind, and everyone at the table can pick their own. The four arrive in a navy gift box with a fitted black insert, ready for a new home, a family, or a colleague who drinks tea or coffee all day.
What is a reactive glaze?
A reactive, or kiln-change, glaze is made to shift as it fires. In the heat of the kiln the glaze flows, pools and reacts, so colours blend and speckle in ways the potter guides but cannot fully control. The result is that each cup looks slightly different from its photo and from its neighbours. This is the character of the glaze, not a fault.

What can you drink from them?
At 220 ml they suit a full cup of tea, a coffee or a glass of water. Without a handle they are held in two hands, which keeps the warmth close; for very hot drinks, let the tea settle for a minute first.
Are they easy to care for?
The maker lists them as safe for the dishwasher, the microwave and a steriliser cabinet. Hand washing will keep the glaze looking its best for longest.
