Description
The Anaiza Nest five elements tea cups give each of the Chinese five elements its own cup: green for wood, red for fire, amber for earth, silver-white for metal and blue for water. Each colour comes from a reactive glaze that streaks in the kiln, so no two cups are alike. They hold about 120 ml, the right size for green tea, oolong or kung fu tea. The five sit in their own compartments in a sea-green gift box. Packed by hand in Dhaka, with cash on delivery.
Five cups, five elements, and no two alike.
Why is the five elements cup set a thoughtful gift?
In Chinese tradition, everything is made of five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal and water. This set gives each one a cup. A deep green for wood, a crackled red for fire, a warm amber for earth, a pale silver-white for metal and a midnight blue for water. Each colour comes from a reactive glaze that runs and streaks in the kiln, so the patterns are never repeated. The five cups sit in their own compartments in a sea-green gift box, ready for a colleague, a father who takes his tea seriously, or a friend who likes a gift with a story.

What is a reactive glaze?
A reactive, or kiln-change, glaze is made to shift as it fires. In the heat of the kiln it flows, pools and reacts, so colours blend and streak in ways the potter guides but cannot fully control. Each cup will look a little different from its photo. That is the character of the glaze, not a fault. The cups come from Boshan in Zibo, a town in Shandong, China, known for its ceramics.
What are they for?
At 120 ml, they are tea cups for slow brewing: green tea, oolong or a kung fu tea session, poured a little at a time. Pair them with any of our tea sets, or see the Japanese-style reactive glaze cups for larger, taller cups.
How is it delivered?
Every set is checked and packed by hand in Dhaka. Delivery takes 1 to 3 days inside Dhaka and 3 to 5 days across Bangladesh, with cash on delivery, or bKash, Nagad or Rocket. If a cup arrives damaged, send us the unboxing video within 3 days and we will put it right.

How do I care for it?
Wash by hand in warm, soapy water and dry with a soft cloth. Avoid scouring pads and harsh cleaners. Avoid pouring boiling water into a cup straight from the fridge. Small differences in glaze from cup to cup are part of the reactive glaze, not a fault.
